MOSES LAKE — Sheila Kries has been selected as the new principal at Moses Lake High School. Currently, Kries is an MLHS assistant principal.

“I look forward to commencing with the 2022-23 school year, welcoming new and returning ‘Mavericks’ to the high school,” Kries wrote in the press release.

The selection was announced in a press release Wednesday afternoon. Kries replaces Tricia Hochstatter, who was selected as executive director of elementary education and student support services.

Kries has been at MLHS since 2016, the press release said.

“Moses Lake High School is and remains the central learning hub for adolescents of Moses Lake. While these past several (COVID-19) years have been challenging for our adolescents, their parents and our school staff, this past spring has given us hope for a renewal of all good things we expect of a high school,” she wrote.

Kries earned undergraduate degrees in science/education and German studies from Seattle University, a bachelor’s degree from Boston College and principal certifications from Gonzaga and Seattle Pacific.

Kries and her husband live in Moses Lake, the press release said, and are enthusiastic fishermen.
