Summer meal program set to begin
OLYMPIA — The Washington State Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction will offer its summer meal program again this year, according to a press release from the agency. The annual Summer Food Service Program provides children in lower-income areas with nutritious meals during the summer.
Summer meal programs help children 18 and under get the nutrition they need to learn, play, and grow during the summer, the release said. The federally-funded program is sponsored by schools, nonprofit organizations, local governments, tribes and other organizations.
