Operation Teddy Bear Lift to aid children in Ukraine
SEATTLE - Warm 106.9 and the Ukraine Association of Washington State, or UAWS, have teamed up for Operation Teddy Bear Lift, a campaign to send over 10,000 teddy bears to children affected by the war in Ukraine, a UAWS press release stated.
The release said in addition to Operation Teddy Bear Lift, Warm 106.9 and its promotional partners will be raising monetary donations for UAWS. Donations will be directed to www.uaws.org and will go toward purchasing neonatal incubators to replace those from destroyed medical facilities.
Delivery of the teddy bears is set for early June to coincide with International Children’s Day. The teddy bears, along with vital medical supplies, will be trucked from Seattle to O’Hare
International Airport in Chicago, IL where they will be airlifted to Munich, Germany. From Munich, the Teddy Bears will travel, again by truck, to Ukraine. Once in Ukraine, local agencies
affiliated with UAWS will coordinate pairing the teddy bears with children in need, the release states.
“Our hearts are all going out to the people and children of Ukraine and with the help of the
Ukraine Association of Washington State we are excited to do what we can to make a difference
with these teddy bears and your donations to UAWS,” said Wheeler Morris in the release. Morris is the Vice President/Market Manager for Hubbard Seattle.
“The Warm 106.9 Teddy Bear Patrol has been supplying teddy bears to area hospitals, police and fire departments, social service agencies and other organizations since 1986. So when we heard stories from our partners at UAWS and how children were asking for toys and other items they had lost we knew we had to figure out a way to get these teddy bears over to them, ” said Tracie Kalkbrenner, Hubbard Seattle Promotions and Marketing Director, in the release.
