'Read beyond the beaten path'
OTHELLO — Registration is now open for the annual Mid-Columbia Libraries summer reading program. “Read beyond the beaten path” is the theme for 2022.
The summer reading program is open to all ages, according to an MCL press release. Participants who read books for 15 hours by Aug. 19 or earlier, or listen to books for 15 hours, and document their reading are eligible for prizes. Children 12 years of age and younger receive a free book if they reach the reading goal, and people 12 and older receive a book bag.
Individual libraries also sponsor events and activities throughout the summer. The kickoff party at the Othello library is scheduled for 3 p.m. on June 15.
Children and families can register at individual library branches or on the MCL website, www.midcolumbialibraries.org, under the tab “summer reading challenge.”
