World’s Greatest Papa

December 21, 1957 — July 24, 2022

On Sunday, July 24, 2022, we lost the world’s greatest papa. He was only 64 years young. He will forever be remembered by the family he left behind, especially his four grandchildren, Madison, Stella, Myles and Perry. He was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He loved fishing. If he wasn't at home working on his lawn, you could find him out in his boat cruising the lake with a giant smile on his face. He was a die-hard sports fan who traveled with his friend Alan, visiting baseball stadiums all over the country. He loved baseball and he passed that love to his kids and grandkids.

Nicholas Ray Albrandt was born Dec. 21, 1957, in Belle Fourche, South Dakota to Alex and Lorna Albrandt. He later moved to Moses Lake, Washington where he spent the rest of his life. He married Denise Beck in 1981, they had two children Bryan and Jayme. Nick worked for the East Columbia Basin Irrigation District for 41 years. He retired in June 2022 as the Moses Lake water master. While he loved his work, he was ready and excited for the next chapter of his life. He only got a few short weeks but he made the most of it by enjoying life the way it was intended with family, friends, fishing and, if he wanted to, doing absolutely nothing.

He is preceded in death by his father Alex, his baby brother John and his brother-in-law Bruce. He leaves behind his mother Lorna; two brothers Mike (Robin) and Randy; and four sisters Lisa, Sherry(John), Cindy and Julie; his children Bryan (Amber) and Jayme (John) and his grandchildren Madison, Stella, Myles and Perry; his nieces Charlene, Melissa, Paige and Taylor, and his nephews Blaine, Taegan, Cody and Mathew. He also left behind numerous cousins and extended family. He was his happiest around his family and they loved him so much.

The next time you’re watching the Mariners think of Nick and maybe they can get in the playoffs for him this year.

A celebration of life will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. July 30 at the Blue Rouge, 2114 W Broadway Ave., Moses Lake, Washington.
