Ronald Lee Gering

| July 11, 2022 1:00 AM

Ron went to be with the Lord on July 3, 2022, from a sudden and unexpected heart attack. He was surrounded by his wife of 40 years, Karen, and his daughters Mandy, Tiffany and Megan at the time of his passing.

He was born in Ritzville on April 8, 1953, to Martin and Betty Gering. He graduated from Ritzville High School in 1971. He then went on to college and returned to work on the farm. Later on, Ron and Karen managed a retirement community for 14 years before retiring in 2020 when they found a beautiful home in Colville.

Ron had the strongest work ethic and could tackle any task. He was creative and generous with his time and talents, from irrigation and farming to etching beautiful images of wildlife into glass. His thundering laugh, great taste in music, strong hugs, playful spirit and fabulous memory will be dearly missed. If you grew up in Ritzville with him, chances are we have heard stories about you!

Ron cherished his grandchildren Kyler, Gabriel, Kenzie, Khloe, Chelsea, Dominic and Boston and friends both old and new. If you knew Ron, you were probably the recipient of homemade strawberry jam, cookies or sausage. Ron’s rough exterior softened as he aged and he loved with a fierceness that will never be forgotten; how lucky you were if you were around to experience it.

He has chosen not to have a service. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, that you choose to forgive and love every day. Life is too short to not return the call or tell someone you love them before hanging up the phone. It’s the little things.
