Two injured in collision on state Route 26
Two people were injured Friday afternoon in a collision on state Route 26 at Lucy Road, east of Othello, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Luke W. Weaver, 30, of Renton, was driving a cream 2005 Chrysler 300, just before 12:53 p.m., eastbound on state Route and tried turning onto Lucy Road.
Meanwhile, Alan R. Huerta Martinez, 30, of an unprovided city, was driving a 2010 Peterbilt 387 semi, and tried to pass the Chrysler, but struck the car in the rear. Both vehicles came to rest on state Route 26.
Weaver and his passenger, Erin Marshall, 31, of an unprovided city, were taken to a local hospital for their injuries. Both wore seat belts and their car was totaled.
Huerta Martinez was uninjured and his truck had reportable damage. He was not wearing a seat belt.
Both drivers may face charges if the WSP files them with the Adams County Prosecutor’s Office and the office proceeds.
The WSP said the cause of the collision was unsafe passing.
