Woman dies in pedestrian-vehicle collision

A pedestrian died early Thursday morning when she was struck by a car on Interstate 90, east of George, in Grant County, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Leila R. Hepp, 43, of Granite Falls, was driving east in a blue 2019 Subaru Ascent, just before 12:11 a.m., on I-90 at milepost 155 when she allegedly struck an unidentified woman who was standing in the road.

The pedestrian, who died at the scene, and the vehicle came to rest on the left shoulder.

The pedestrian’s identity wasn’t known by press time, as next of kin hadn’t been notified.

Hepp was uninjured and was wearing a seat belt. The vehicle was totaled.

The cause of the collision was a pedestrian in the road, according to the WSP.
