Mona Phelps

It is with deepest love and sorrow the family of Mona Phelps announces her passing. Mona went to be with the Lord on Jan. 12, 2022. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. Mona was 83 years old.

She was born on Dec. 13, 1939, to Marietta and Frederick Young in Sandpoint, Idaho. Mona started a life and family together when she married Herbert Phelps, living mostly in Ephrata, Washington. Mona spent many years working at the Ephrata School District and was loved and adored by all who knew her. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Mona was most passionate about family; her children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. She hosted gatherings as often as she could. She loved working on genealogy, quilting, gardening and baking as well as many other hobbies.

Mona is survived by her sister Ilene Stumpff; her three children Michael (Karen) Phelps, Mary (Brian) Woody and Jeff (Melody) Phelps; grandchildren Jessi Phelps, Bethany Jensen, Matt Phelps, Megan Phelps, Susan Phelps, Alex Phelps, Adam Phelps, Brad Labes, Chris Labes and Brandon Woody and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Marietta Young, husband Herbert Phelps, son Fred Phelps, sister Bev Petrak and granddaughter Michelle Woody.

The family gives everyone who cared for Mona their greatest and warmest gratitude. A special thanks to Pastor Richard Lappnow from Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, whom Mona considered as family.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 12 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Ephrata, Washington.
