The Moses Lake Christian Academy/Covenant Christian School (MLCA/CCS) boys basketball team had a busy several days, taking three consecutive victories.

The MLCA/CCS Lions started with a win over Odessa High School on Wednesday, 60-51.

Thursday, they went up against Riverside Christian School. The first quarter was a battle, which ended with MLCA/CCS ahead by only one point. By halftime; however, the Lions were able to bring the lead to nine points, 27-18. Riverside Christian made a push during the third quarter, scoring two more points than MLCA/CCS. As MLCA/CCS always seems to do, it had a final push in the fourth quarter to score 25 points. The final score was MLCA/CCS 62, Riverside Christian 41.

“The boys wanted this one bad,” MLCA/CCS head coach Emerson Ferguson said after the game. “We felt we didn’t play our best game against them early in the season and wanted to really make a statement tonight. They executed our game plan perfectly and we got the result we expected. Our first team goal was 10 wins and tonight we got that. I am extremely proud of the boys tonight.”

On Friday night, the Lions played their third consecutive game, this one against Soap Lake High School, and took home victory yet again.

From the beginning, the Lions took the lead and never gave it up. In all but the last quarter of the game, MLCA/CCS outscored Soap Lake. The final score was 63-51, with MLCA/CCS taking home the glory.

“Three tough games in three days. The boys were extremely tired and yet found ways to win all three nights.” Ferguson said. “We have drilled the mindset of perseverance from the beginning of the season. These boys have truly bought in and this type of effort will get us to our ultimate goal and the end of the season.”
