Quincy boys basketball team scores 72 in win over Omak
QUINCY – The Quincy High School boys basketball team took a big win over Omak High School Tuesday night.
In what seemed to be an easy game for the Jacks, it immediately got ahead 22 to 10 in the first quarter and stayed ahead the rest of the game. Quincy High School senior Aidan Heikes hit two three-pointers, helping secure the 12-point lead in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, things heated up with Omak scoring 11 points to Quincy’s 12, nearly keeping pace with the Jacks. However, Quincy still had a 13-point lead going into the half.
The third quarter saw three’s from three Quincy seniors; Heikes, TreyVaughn Bierlink and Jalen Spence. Again, Quincy kept its lead over Omak.
Going into the fourth quarter, 51-35, Quincy had the game in the bag. All that was left was to defend its lead. And that it did. Scoring nearly as many points in the final quarter as it did in the first quarter, Quincy took the game 72-48.
“The boys played well. We played with intensity and pace, which has been our motto lately,” Quincy head coach Scott Bierlink said. “Aiden Heikes, Jalen Spence and TreyVaughn Bierlink stepped up and played great defensively for us.”
Heikes and Spence also had the game highs of 26 points and 22 points, respectively, with Bierlink close behind with 18. The highest scorer for Omak was sophomore Julian Ibarra with 17 points.
The Jacks are 10-3 overall 5-1 in its conference. Its only league loss was to Chelan High School, 64-58 on Jan. 7. Bierlink said the league championship should come down to the game against Chelan on Jan. 25 at Quincy.
The Jacks’ next scheduled game is Friday at Cashmere High School.
