Two teenage boys were injured Sunday morning in an alleged DUI-caused rollover collision on state Route 17, southeast of Othello, according to the Washington State Patrol.

A 16-year-old, of Mesa, was driving north on state Route 17, just before 7:01 a.m. in a silver 2005 Toyota 4Runner, when the vehicle swerved, left the road to the right, rolled and came to rest on its top about 20 feet off the road.

The 16-year-old and his 15-year-old passenger, of Connell, were taken to Othello Community Hospital for their injuries. But the passenger was flown to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane after going to OCH for his injuries.

The cause of the collision was driving under the influence, the WSP said.

The 16-year-old may face charges if the WSP forwards any to the Adams County Prosecutor’s Office and the office proceeds.

Both boys wore seat belts and the vehicle had reportable damage.
