EPHRATA — The Ephrata High School boys basketball team beat conference contender East Valley High School Tuesday night, 38-34.

The victory over East Valley in Ephrata was the first conference win for the Tigers, having lost to Othello High School and Ellensburg High School.

East Valley led the first quarter 11-8; however, Ephrata came back to score double East Valley’s points in the second quarter and triple its points in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, East Valley took a lead on points in the quarter, but it wasn’t enough to take the game.

Ephrata High School senior Ethan Black had a game high of 15 points for the Tigers.

“East Valley is always tough; always a great game. No one is easy in the CWAC (Central Washington Athletic Conference),” said Ephrata head coach Brandon Evenson.

Evenson also said his team is playing extremely hard on defense, but he feels its offense still has room to grow.

The Tigers are currently 5-6 overall and 1-2 in their conference, while East Valley is 7-4 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

Ephrata’s next battle comes Friday at Prosser High School.
