July 9, 1929 – February 22, 2022

Henrietta "Neke" Burns was 92 years old when she went to be with Jesus on Feb. 22, 2022, at Samaritan Hospital, with family at her side.

Neke was born July 9, 1929, to Henry and Patricia Dolleman. She was born at home on the farm in Issaquah, Washington (on Tiger Mountain). At age 16 she met her husband-to-be, Jack Earl Burns, at the brickyard in Taylor, Washington. She married Jack in Issaquah, Washington on July 22, 1950, at the Roadside Chapel. They lived in the Seattle area for seven years, adding two daughters and one son to their family.

Jack's job with Safeway brought them to Moses Lake in 1957, where they added one more daughter to complete their family. They moved to their current home in September of 1958. Neke was an active member at Light and Life Church for many years and was also involved in the startup of Journey Church here in Moses Lake in 2008. She served in multiple capacities – most notably as a Sunday school teacher for young children. Neke was known for her honesty, loyalty, integrity, generosity, and her many acts of selfless service. She was the best mom ever!

She is survived by two daughters Dixie (Cary) Basel and Patricia (Stephen) McBee, her son, Ed (Judy) Burns and one sister Dorothy Herzog. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack in 2014 and daughter Nancy Beaumont in 2008, as well as four brothers and four sisters. Neke and Jack had eight grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Journey Chapel, 303 E. Nelson Road, on March 12 at 1 p.m.
