QUINCY — Quincy High School senior TreyVaughn Bierlink has crossed a new line in his high school basketball career by surpassing 1,000 career points.

The 6-foot-4 senior scored the final points needed to get into that elusive club during the Feb. 19 district crossover game against Colville in the second quarter.

Along with surpassing 1,000 points, Bierlink also managed 53 of the team’s 89 points in that game. A good chunk of those points came from the 13 three-pointers he sunk during the game.

According to high school sports website MaxPreps.com, Bierlink has been averaging nearly 23 points per game. He scored a staggering total of 555 points just this season.

“I’m really proud of TreyVaughn. He has worked really hard to improve his game every year. He went from 13 points per game as a sophomore to 18 points per game his junior year to 24 points per game his senior year. He has put countless hours in the gym working on his game and it has paid off for him. It is a huge accomplishment to score 1,000 points and he is one of only five to ever score 1,000 (points) at Quincy,” said head coach Scott Bierlink, who is also TreyVaughn’s father.

“He is part of a great senior class that are the best of friends on and off the court. He could not have done it without his teammates,” the coach added. “He has a teammate, Aidan Heikes, who is closing in on 1,000 points this season as well. Would be an unbelievable accomplishment if they could both reach 1,000 points in the same season.”

“It’s been a great year and we hope we can keep it rolling at the SunDome,” Bierlink said.
