Moses Lake Wrestling Club goes to state

TACOMA — Just after the high school state tournament, the Washington State Wrestling Association held a state wrestling tournament for club wrestlers at the Tacoma Dome on Feb. 20.

The Moses Lake Wrestling Club traveled to the Tacoma Dome with 30 wrestlers. Out of those 30 wrestlers, 24 placed in the top eight for their divisions.

According to Johana Hunt, a board member for the club, said some of the wrestlers who went to state wrestle year long and others just started.

“We want to congratulate all our kids that worked hard and wrestled their hearts out,” Hunt said. “We also want to thank all our board members and coaches that make this club run and be where it is today.”

Those individuals include coaches William Goss, Terry Prescott, Duane Zamora, Frankie Torres, Jose Tanguma and Jaime Garza, he said. Hunt also wanted to thank all the dads who step in and help.

The Moses Lake Wrestling Club state placers for 2022:

• Braxton Suarez – 6U 41-43 pounds champion

• Vincent Hun –12U 74 pounds champion

• Reese Prescott – Girls 6-8 119 pounds champion

• Sophia Garza – Girls elementary 73-77 pounds champion

• Willy Goss – 10U 77 pounds second place

• Dayton Regan – Junior 132 pounds second place

• Addilynn Barajas – 8U 45 pounds third place

• Ian Garza – 16U 100 pounds third place

• Moises Cosmes – 8U 45 pounds third place

• Elyssa Armendariz – Girls 6-8 97 pounds third place

• Brantley Beliz – 8U 85+ pounds fourth place

• West Prescott – 12U 58 pounds fourth place

• Aryn Anderson – 12U 160 pounds fourth place

• Brielle Prescott – Girls elementary 62-66 pounds fourth place

• Ian Anderson – 16U 126 pounds fifth place

• Elia Torres – Girls elementary 57-62 pounds fifth place
