Ephrata Middle School students show their stuff at Math is Cool
The results for the Math Is Cool Competition earlier this month are in and the Ephrata Middle School math team did amazing! The event, which was held virtually this year, featured teams from across Washington state that competed in a variety of individual and team rounds.
In the seventh-grade division, EMS finished in first place overall with five individuals placing in the top 11. These placers were: Megan Truscott (third place), Gracie Chamberlin (sixth place), Avery Gault (seventh place), Gabriella Deherrera (10th place) and Allison Moore (11th place). Also competing in the seventh-grade division and representing EMS very well were Uriel Bustos, Cole Hopkins Drew and Connor Liffengren.
In the eighth-grade division, EMS finished in second place overall with Trevor Middleton placing fourth. Tyler Kono and Dominic Calderon also put together great efforts to help the team.
Both the seventh- and eighth-grade teams qualified for the state Math Masters Competition that will be held later this year.
