MLCA/CCS, Soap Lake to battle for district title
The Moses Lake Christian Academy/Covenant Christian School and Soap Lake High School boys basketball teams are set to battle for the district title on Thursday at Wenatchee High School.
In the first round of districts, MLCA/CCS beat Cascade Christian Academy 72-15. Soap Lake took on Pateros, outdoing them 72-35.
The second round of districts saw MLCA/CCS fly past Entiat 67-23 and Soap Lake barely overtake Riverside Christian 64-58.
The two Basin teams play at 8 p.m. at Wenatchee High School on Feb. 17 for the chance at the district title. They have played each other twice already in the regular season, MLCA/CCS winning both games by more than 10 points, 67-48 and 62-51 respectively. MLCA/CCS also holds the league title.
MLCA/CCS’s record is 20-2 overall and Soap Lake’s record is 16-6.
The Lions are currently ranked No. 8 in the 1B boys basketball category by the WIAA Rating Percentage Index while the Eagles are ranked No. 17.
Winner of the district championship will move on to regionals, while the loser will play the winner of the Entiat vs Riverside Christian game for a chance to also move on to regionals.
