John (Jack) Hetherington

John (Jack) Hetherington, longtime resident of Moses Lake, Washington, has passed away with his family by his side.

He was born in Girard, Ohio, where he met and married his wife. He then joined the Navy and received an early discharge after the passing of his father to help support the family. Then he was drafted into the army, where he was deployed to Korea. He received a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars during his tour of duty. He got married while in the Army and moved to Sunnyside, Washington, in 1954. It was there he started working for the school district. In 1962 he came to Moses Lake to become the school district maintenance supervisor and spent the last couple of years working at the Big Bend Maintenance Department until his retirement in 1982.

He enjoyed camping and his many activities with his family and friends. He was always there when someone needed him, anytime, anyplace.

He is preceded in his death by his mother, father, four sisters and oldest daughter Darlene. He is survived by his bother Jimmy in Oklahoma, sons John Hetherington of Kennewick, Washington and Rex Hetherington of Spanaway, Washington and daughter Vickie Martinez Rico of Yuma, Arizona. He is truly loved and will never be forgotten by his family and all of the lodge members at the Moses Lake Eagles.

Services will be held on Friday, Feb. 18, at 12 p.m. at Kayser’s Chapel of Memories, followed by the burial at Pioneer Cemetery. Then all friends and family are invited to join at the Moses Lake Eagles on Broadway for a celebration of life. Everyone is welcome.
