The Almira/Coulee-Hartline High School boys basketball team flew past Odessa High School on Thursday, 66-37.

Odessa got possession of the ball from the jump, but it did not last long, with ACH senior Reece Isaak rebounding and making a basket within the first 30 seconds of the game. Back-to-back, ACH was able to score, getting a 12-point lead over Odessa in the first quarter alone. Nine of ACH’s 22 points in the first quarter came from Isaak.

The second quarter didn’t slow down for ACH, which scored 27 points and held Odessa back to score only six points.

By halftime, ACH had a 49-16 lead over Odessa.

Going into the third quarter, ACH eased up and started subbing in their reserves. Odessa continued to battle, but couldn’t make up the large deficit.

ACH took the game with 66 points, topping Odessa’s 37.

Isaak had the game’s high score of 21 points. ACH senior Dane Isaak and freshman Carter Pitts each had three, three-pointers during the game.

“You never expect a deficit like that, especially in a rivalry game,” said ACH head coach Graham Grindy. “We just shot the ball well tonight, which helped us build that lead and played good defense.”

According to the MaxPreps website, ACH is 13-3 overall and 8-0 in the league.
