PUD to offer open houses on Quincy area improvements

EPHRATA — The Grant County Public Utility District (PUD) will hold a series of open house meetings in February and early March to talk about upcoming power improvements in the Quincy area, according to a PUD release.

The PUD will talk about proposed upgrades to the Mountain View Substation in Quincy and its 32-mile long, 230-kilovolt transmission line from the switchyard at Wanapum Dam to the Mountain View Substation.

Open houses to discuss the four-year, $33.6 million Mountain View Substation project are scheduled at the Port of Quincy Conference Center, 101 F. St. SW in Quincy, from 5 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 8, and Feb. 16. In addition, an online-only meeting will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Feb. 17 at www.grantpud.org/gtep.

Open houses for the transmission line project will be at the George Community Hall, 403 W. Montgomery Blvd. in George, from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 22, and at the Port of Quincy Conference Center from 5 to 7 p.m. March 2, followed by an online meeting from 6 to 7 p.m. March 3 at www.grantpud.org/gtep.

Public comments about both projects will be taken during all public meetings, and Spanish language translation will be available, according to the release. Attendees will be asked to follow state masking guidelines.
