Euan attended Pasco High School and was on the 1945 football team that went undefeated. He joined the Navy at the end of his junior year, to the disappointment of the football team. He was in the Navy, assigned to the USS Henderson (DD 785), a destroyer. He was a seaman 2nd class radar operator. When discharged, he was a seaman 1st class. He earned the Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal, the American Area Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
After returning from World War II and graduating high school, Euan attended Washington State University. He earned a structural engineering and architecture license, displaying talent and skill in design and mathematics. Euan had a career as an architect, starting in Spokane and Seattle, designing many custom homes and commercial buildings all along the west coast. He was employed by Grant County as a surveyor and bridge designer for many decades, retiring in the late 1990s.
He loved physics, astronomy, and organic gardening. Euan enjoyed music and singing in the church choir, encouraging his kids to develop musical talent. He had a creative sense of humor and loved wordsmithing by playing on words resulting in one-of-a-kind rhymes.
Euan’s longevity resulted from healthy living, reading, singing and years of working around his property, gardening, pruning orchard trees, changing hand sprinkler lines, raising animals and building his home with his own hands. We now lay our father down to rest.
