Masquers Theater announces ‘Sing On’ auditions
SOAP LAKE — The Masquers Theater will be holding auditions for the company’s production of “Sing On” Jan. 6 and 7. Auditions will be at 6 p.m. Jan. 6 and 1 p.m. Jan. 7 at the theater, 322 E. Main St., Soap Lake.
The play has a cast of 11 characters, including three men, three women and five that can be either gender, according to a Masquers press release. Cast members range from 18 years of age on up. The play includes some music.
“Sing On” is the tale of a theater in deep financial trouble, deep enough that they’re willing to put on a play by a writer who’s not only bad at writing plays but probably nuts. Playwright Phyllis, however, has her eyes on a prize (a cold hard cash prize) that she will share with the theater if she wins. All they have to do is perform her play explaining that Elizabeth I – yes, the queen from 1588 or whenever – doesn’t get the respect she deserves. Sure-fire subject for a play, right?
The Masquers performance of “Sing On’ will open April 14. Carol Boyce is the director. People who want more information can leave a message at the theater at 509-246-2611.
