SR 17 collision closes highway Wednesday
MOSES LAKE — A collision on State Route 17, between Stratford Road and East Broadway Ave, led to the highway being closed for over an hour.
Just before 9 a.m. Wednesday, a southbound vehicle crossed into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a northbound vehicle, according to a release by the Moses Lake Police Department. Another northbound vehicle was unable to avoid the collision and struck one of the vehicles as well.
The release states two people were transported by ambulance to the hospital. One driver had to be extricated by firefighters. MLPD assisted the Washington State Patrol at the scene of the accident as well.
Northbound SR 17 was closed for over an hour, and southbound SR 17 was reduced to one lane.
In the release, MLPD asked drivers to slow down when approaching accident scenes and especially to slow down in general during winter when roads can be slick.
