1941-2022

On Dec. 3, 2022, Gladys Marie Strader, 82, passed away at home surrounded by her four children.

Gladys was born in North Dakota May 11, 1941, but lived most of her life in the Columbia Basin. She married the love of her life Warren Lawson Strader on June 19, 1959. They spent 52 wonderful years together raising their children and watching their grandchildren grow into adults. Gladys dedicated her entire life to her family and all their friends. For those of you that knew her you probably knew her as “Grandma.” She loved every single person in her life with her entire heart. She greeted everybody with a huge smile and a hug. Her hugs were one of a kind and could melt away any presence of a bad day.

She was so proud of being a mother. Her children meant the world to her, and she meant the world to them. She loved being a part of all their lives, she called daily to check on them and to make sure they were having a good day and to make sure they got home from work OK and always ended the conversation with “I love you.” A mother’s love is irreplaceable, but when we lost her, we didn’t just lose a mother; we lost a best friend, a grandmother, a sister, an aunt, a neighbor. She was the epitome of what a good person is and will truly be missed by all that knew her.

Gladys spent a large portion of her life chasing her grandchildren around to all their sporting events and birthday parties. She never missed a thing. She was a go-getter and couldn’t sit still for long. She loved a good game of cards and challenged herself to beat everybody in cribbage. When she wasn’t at home with her family, she was at the bingo hall! Her face would light up the entire bingo hall when she yelled “Bingo.” I can see her now, up in heaven playing bingo every day with her family that has passed on before her.

Gladys was preceded in death by her mother and father Andrew and Elta Christman, sister Dorothy Flint and brother-in-law Butch Flint, granddaughter Mystic and her husband, and her one true love Warren Lawson Strader.

She is survived by her oldest daughter Mitzie Strader and her two kids Curtis and Ashley; her second daughter Myrna, her husband Bill Purcell and their two kids Bill and Matthew; her son Warren Allen Strader, his wife Annah and their four kids Darren, Brianna, Teddy and Amanda; and her youngest daughter Tammy, husband Todd Perry and their four girls Marie, Kirsten, Shelby and Katie.

She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Trinity, Caden, Carson, Peyton, Taylin, Everly, Carter, Genesis, Naylaya, Rayden, Luke, Jasmin, Stephen, Matty, Ryan, Toby, Abigail, Isabell, Piper, Liam, Anderson, Maddox, Gunner, Corbin, Hadley, Caroline and Miles.
