Malea Tetzlaff (Kerr)

Malea Beverly Tetzlaff (Kerr) passed away at home on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022 in Renton, Wash. at the age of 34. She was born in Spokane, Wash. to Barbara Kerr (Simpson) and Bud Kerr. She moved to Moses Lake in 1988.

Malea graduated from Columbia Basin Secondary School in 2006 with honoros, where she played volleyball and basketball, and ran track. Through her teen years she worked at Samurai Sams and Papa John's Pizza. After her schooling, she moved to the west side of the state where she met her husband, Jeremy. She was married in October of 2014 in a Vegas ceremony.

Malea and her husband Jeremy enjoyed many road trips and adventures, especially with their beloved boxers. She was an avid Seattle Sounders fan. Malea enjoyed reading and watching her favorite shows, “Gilmore Girls” and “New Girl.” Being an auntie was one of her biggest joys! Every time she was in town she was always up for a sleepover and adventures.

Malea worked for Meridian Valley lab in Renton from 2006 to 2021. She most recently worked in the customer service field. Her smile and contagious laugh were always a source of joy to those who knew her.

Malea is survived by her husband, Jeremy Tetzlaff; sister, Raven Kerr; stepfather, Jon Meade, in-laws, Walt & Vicky Tetzlaff; brothers-in-law, Noah Tetzlaff and Jon (Cherice) Tetzlaff; grandmother, Ila Simpson; nieces and nephew, Bentleigh, Aspen, Elijah, Zoe, and Amelia; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins that loved and cared for her very much.

Malea is preceded in death by both of her parents, Bud and Barb Kerr (Simpson); her grandfather, Joe Simpson; her grandmother, Sarah Darlene Alfredson “Oma”, her uncle, Sean Simpson, and her fur baby, Fiona.
