Two killed in wreck east of George
GEORGE — A collision east of George Tuesday morning left two dead and three injured according to a Grant County Sheriff’s Office statement.
GCSO Spokesman Kyle Foreman said the collision occurred just before 7 a.m. along Adams Road South between Baseline Road and South Frontage Road West.
Foreman said a Toyota Corolla carrying two people was driving southbound on Adams Road when it lost control. The loss of control resulted in the Corolla rotating while sliding into the opposite lane, where a northbound 2014 Nissan pickup truck with five occupants struck its passenger side.
A tractor-trailer also traveling along Adams Road avoided the collision by driving into a ditch. The driver was not injured.
The Corolla’s two occupants were pronounced dead at the scene and the three occupants of the pickup were transported with non-life-threatening injuries to Quincy Valley Medical Center, Columbia Basin Hospital in Ephrata and Samaritan Healthcare in Moses Lake.
Foreman said icy road conditions are believed to have contributed to the loss of control by the Corolla.
The roadway was closed for several hours but reopened just before noon.
The names of the victims had not been released as of press time.
