Two injured near Soap Lake in Sunday collision
SOAP LAKE - Two people were injured in a collision Sunday afternoon at the intersection of SR 17 and SR 28 just outside Soap Lake, according to a press release from the Washington State Patrol.
According to the release, a 2013 Ram 1500, driven by Liliana Villafana, 62, of Ephrata was traveling southbound on SR 17 and came to a stop at a stop sign at the intersection of SR 28. Naomi Paszeicz, 49 of an unknown residency, driving a 2014 Toyota Prius, was traveling eastbound on SR 28 through the intersection when Villafana failed to yield and struck the front end of the Prius. Villafana’s vehicle came to rest northbound in a ditch on SR 17. Paszeicz’s vehicle came to rest blocking the intersection.
The report states both drivers were wearing their seatbelts but sustained injuries and were transported to Columbia Basin Hospital.
Charges for failing to yield right of way are pending against Villafana, according to the release.
