“An Enchanted Bookshop Christmas” will run only two weekends in December.
Many characters in “An Enchanted Bookshop Christmas”, put on by Masquers Theater in Soap Lake, are played by two actors.
SOAP LAKE — Masquers Theater will present their Christmas show, “An Enchanted Bookshop Christmas," starting this weekend, to run only two weekends in December.
“It's a hilarious, heartwarming tale that reminds us that the best gifts don't come wrapped in pretty paper and bows,” Masquers Theater’s website states about the play.
Directed by Marla Allsopp, Masquers will recreate the play by Todd Wallinger that brings many different book characters together to solve the mystery of a missing present.
According to Masquers, Kat Stahl plays the owner of the bookshop, Margie, who is delighted when her serious-minded sister Ellen, played by Destiny Bunney, comes to visit with her young daughter, Annabelle (played by Jill Klingenberg and Olivia Noble). After recently losing her job, Ellen feels down on her luck. But a surprise visitor to the shop turns everything around. When a present disappears, it's up to the come-to-life book characters to solve the mystery of the missing bookmark and save the day for Ellen - all without giving away their magical existence.
Performances run Dec. 2, 3, 4 and 9, 10, 11. Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays/Sundays at 2 p.m.
