December 12, 1946 – August 23, 2022

Peggy Stratton, of Rathdrum, Idaho, passed away suddenly on Aug. 23, 2022. She was 75 years old.

Peggy was born to parents Tony and Marge Frelich on Dec. 12, 1946, in Livingston, Montana. Her family moved onto a farm in Paradise Valley when she was young. Like her father, Peggy was an amazing storyteller, and many of her best tales stemmed from her simple life on the farm with her siblings John and Cathy, cousins and friends from the county school. After graduating from Park High School, Peggy attended business school in Butte, where friends set her up on a blind date with Robert (Bob) Stratton. They quickly became sweethearts and married on Sept. 25, 1965. Shortly after their son Robert (Rob) Lynn was born in 1967, they moved their small family to Lacey, Washington to pursue career opportunities. Here, their daughter Toni Michelle was born in 1972.

After nine years of building friendships and careers, they moved to Kennewick, Washington where they raised their two children. After helping Bob to establish a business, Peggy worked as a real estate agent/broker. Peggy touched many lives during this time with her gentle guidance, knowledge and love for her clients. In 1987, 20 years after their first was born, they were inspired to have another child and Jack Allan was born. Later, she joined her love at Stratton Surveying & Mapping where they both worked until their retirement. They then moved to Rathdrum, Idaho, to be closer to Rob.

In retirement, they loved to sit on the back porch and socialize with whomever passed through the common area. They went on many great travel adventures, visiting family and grandchildren, and exploring our world. Peggy loved to write poetry, cook and share stories with others. She loved to watch children grow and help them learn about the wonderful world around them.

Peggy served in many ways throughout her life. She was active in her children’s sports, cheering on the Tri-City Americans, leading youth at Girls Camp and serving at church, adopting families at Thanksgiving and Christmas and most recently, serving as president of her home owners association, where she encouraged and promoted community togetherness. Her presence will be felt amongst her friends and neighbors for years to come.

Peggy is survived by her devoted husband, Robert (Bob) Stratton; son Robert Lynn Stratton and his wife Debbie Stratton of Rathdrum, Idaho; daughter Toni Michelle (Stratton) Cavallini and her husband Michael Cavallini and granddaughters Clara, Lucia and Tessa Cavallini of Merrimac, Massachusetts and son Jack Allan Howard-Stratton and his wife Steffy Howard-Stratton of Telkwa, British Columbia, Canada. Other surviving relatives are her brother John Frelich and sister Cathy Bosley of Livingston, Montana, and four nieces, Jacquie Frelich, Malissa Morrill, Christina Bosley-Hoeme and Shannon Campbell. Peggy is predeceased by her parents Anthony (Tony) Frelich and Marjorie (O’Neill) Frelich.

The family will hold a memorial service overlooking the lake she loved on Sept. 4 at 11 a.m. in the common area behind the club house at Twin Lakes Village in Rathdrum, Idaho. All family and friends are welcome to join in the celebration of her life. Please bring a chair if you can and a story to share. Flowers are welcome, but the family asks that you consider a donation in her name to the Livingston Roundup rodeo or to your favorite charity.
