PULLMAN — French guard Kymany Houinsou signed with the Cougars for the 2022-2023 season, the school announced in a release on Monday. He joins his French U18 National teammate Maël Hamon-Crespin, who signed with WSU in June.

"We have completed our recruiting class with the addition of Kymany Houinsou," said WSU men’s basketball head coach Kyle Smith. "He is a highly touted European guard from France and a perfect fit for our program with his ability to play on both sides of the ball. He is a big guard who possesses great offensive playmaking skills that blend well with his natural defensive length, strength and instincts."

The Mulhouse, France native has experience on the France U18 National team, averaging 10 points and 5.6 assists this summer with the team, and had a 64% shooting percentage from inside the three-point arc. Houinsou uses his 6-6 frame to his advantage on defense, averaging 7.2 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game while at the 2021 U18 European Challengers.

Along with National team experience, Houinsou spent time with Saint-Quentin BB.

"Kymany is a prototype modern-day player," Smith added. "He gives us the ability to switch 1 through 5 defensively and allows us to be very flexible with the different styles of play in the Pac-12. Maël and Kymany have been members of the French National team U18 program, and they are looking forward to continuing their relationship as Cougs."
