Soap Lake man arrested on outstanding warrants
SOAP LAKE — In a joint effort, the Soap Lake Police Department and Grant County Sheriff’s Office arrested 30-year-old James Ghent of Soap Lake on outstanding felony warrants Wednesday morning, according to a press release from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
The press release by GCSO stated Ghent was in possession of tools commonly used in burglaries.
The release stated that Ghent was reported as a suspicious person around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday. The caller was concerned due to recent area brush fires.
Soap Lake police found Ghent riding his bicycle near Road 19 Northwest and St. Andrews Drive in Lakeview, the release states. Ghent was arrested for outstanding felony warrants and lodged in the Grant County Jail.
The release stated that among Ghent's personal property was a battery-powered reciprocating saw, which is commonly used by catalytic converter thieves. No catalytic converters were found in his possession, but law enforcement can now try to make connections between Ghent and local thefts and burglaries, the press release said.
“Taking the time to call in a suspicious person can many times help us investigate other crimes,” the release said.
The GCSO recommends the public call and report anything suspicious to 509-762-1160.
