SLSD to hold surplus sale Saturday

| August 17, 2022 1:20 AM

SOAP LAKE - The Soap Lake School District will be holding a surplus sale this Saturday in Soap Lake to get rid of old and unused items for a great bargain.

Soap Lake School District Superintendent Kim Casey said the items in the sale are old, out of date, mismatched or unused items and may have some damage.

“The items are not in stellar condition,” said Casey.

Items in the sale include but are not limited to things such as filing cabinets, chairs, tables, desks and other school-related supplies.

She explained that the idea behind putting the unwanted items in a yard-sale type event is so that someone else may still benefit from the items rather than just throwing them away.

“These items would be great for a home office, garage, church school, private school or even those who do homeschooling,” said Casey.

Everything in the sale will be priced from five cents to one dollar.

Casey said that making money off the items isn't the priority, they just want the community to be able to benefit from items they paid for with tax dollars. Due to the items being purchased with public funds, the items have to be sold and cannot be given away.

The sale starts bright and early at 7 a.m. and will take place at two district locations; Rise Academy and the main school parking lot. Rise Academy is located at 120 Main Ave. E. and the school parking lot is 410 Ginkgo Street S.
