Douglas Ty Whitner

Douglas Ty Whitener, 68, of Yakima, Washington, passed away July 30, 2022 at Virginia Mason Hospital after his long battle with cancer.

Born in Moscow, Idaho on Mar. 20, 1954, to the late LeRoy and Evelyn Whitener. Ty was a graduate of Quincy High School and would go on to receive his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University. Following his degree, Ty would go on to work alongside his father, eventually starting his own private practice servicing the Eastern Washington area before working for the United States Department of Agriculture at Washington Beef in Toppenish, Washington.

Ty was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying all hobbies with his beloved family by his side. He was a monument amongst his community and will be sorely missed by all those that were lucky enough to know him.

He is survived by his three children, Zane Whitener, Victoria (AJ) Cummings, Colton Whitener and five grandchildren. Ty is also survived by his two sisters, Laura (Patrick) Escure and Janis (Harold) Whitener-Moberg. He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Jessicka.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, Aug. 13,, 2022 at Scharbach’s Columbia Funeral Chapel, 300 G Street SE, Quincy.
