Fire near Ephrata quickly brought under control
A fire near Ephrata burned an estimated 100 acres early Tuesday morning, but fire officials said it was under control relatively quickly.

EPHRATA — A fire early Tuesday morning burned about 100 acres of federal land just outside of Ephrata between Road A and Drumheller Road, according to first responders.
Grant County Fire District 13 Chief Jim Stucky said the fire was reported about 2 a.m. from an address off of Road A NW.
Stucky said the fire was brought under control by about 4:30 a.m. and that there were no injuries or damages to power lines.
Bureau of Land Management crews took over for mop-up and were still on scene by 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. Stucky said this is because there was a high potential for re-ignition due to the heat and dryness of the area.
Stucky said the land burned was Bureau of Reclamation land and looks to be about 100 acres in size but has not been mapped out yet. He also said a cause has not yet been identified.
Stucky said he appreciates the help from their neighbors, Grant County Fire District 5 and City of Ephrata Fire for their mutual aid.
“We work well together,” Stucky said.
