Enrollment deadline approaching for WA college savings program

OLYMPIA — The annual enrollment period for people who want to start a 529 education savings plan will end May 31.

The Guaranteed Education Tuition plan allows families to buy tuition units that can be used in the future to pay costs associated with college or post-secondary training. The current price is $114.01 per unit, and people have until June 25 to buy units at that price and add them to an existing account, according to a press release from WA529.

The funds can be used to pay for college tuition, trade school fees and other expenses associated with post-secondary education. They can be used at most four-year universities, technical schools, community colleges or other continuing education institutions around the country.
