COULEE CITY — Almira/Coulee-Hartline baseball and softball teams are dominating the 1B category. Both teams are ranked in the top 5 in the state and are at the top of their leagues.

The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association posted to their Facebook page the Scholastic Cup Leaderboards by classification on April 23. The Scholastic Cup recognizes the combined athletic and academic achievements of WIAA member schools and has ACH ranked No. 3 in the 1B category.

The WIAA website states the Scholastic Cup recognizes performance in the classroom as well as on the playing surface. Schools that finish at the top of their respective classifications in state athletic competition receive points, as do schools that finish at the top in team academic performance. It also lists sportsmanship as a factor, with substantial points deducted for ejections from contests. At the end of the year, the school with the most points in their classification will be awarded the prestigious Scholastic Cup.

The WIAA has ACH softball ranked No. 1 in the state 1B softball classification according to the Rating Percentage Index. After a 15-0 and 12-2 doubleheader victory over Mary Walker High School on April 26, the Lady Warriors are 14-2-0 overall. They also stand at No. 1 in their league.

ACH took the fastpitch state championship back to back in 2018 and 2019.

ACH softball senior Adyson Schafer was also named WIAA Athlete of the Week for the most recent week (Week 31).

The Athlete of the Week bio states that Schafer, who plays catcher, is batting .600, totaling 21 RBIs and 27 runs scored during the 12-0 start of the ACH Warriors' 2022 spring season. It also states that Schafer has caught all 12 games with 45 putouts out of 45 attempts, throwing out 3 base runners on steal attempts. On the year so far, she has 19 hits with 1 double, 3 triples, 1 homerun, and 9 stolen bases. Schafer, and the Warriors were recently involved in the incredible 10-inning, unbelievable 48-39 slug-fest road-win over Inchelium on April 15, where she caught for all 234 total pitches, according to the bio.

As for the boys team, ACH baseball is ranked No. 3 in the 1B category according to RPI with an overall record of 13-2-1. Just like the girls, the boys are No.1 in the league.

The baseball team is composed of many of the same athletes that made up both the football team who took the state championship in December and basketball team who placed second at the 1B state basketball tournament in March. Some of those include seniors Parker Roberts, Dane Isaak, Casen Murray, Grady Murray, Cody Kagele, Cooper Correia and Reece Isaak.

In the last three state championships, ACH took the baseball state championship in 2018 and 2019, and placed second in 2017.
