Basin teams dominate at Omak meet
OMAK - Omak was host to the Omak Small Meet on April 19. The track and field meet featured eight teams, three of which were from the Basin.
Columbia Basin teams were Wilson Creek, Soap Lake and Quincy high schools all participated. The basin sent 35 boys, 27 girls and two girls relay teams to the top 10 for their respective competitions.
Here are the top five finishers from the Basin:
For the boys:
200 Meters - Quincy’s Jayden Richards took 2nd.
400 Meters - Quincy’s Ecduy Gordillo took 3rd.
800 Meters - Soap Lake’s Pavlo Stoyan took 2nd.
1600 Meters - Quincy’s Ecduy Gordillo took 2nd and Soap Lake’s Dominic Jepersen took 5th.
3200 Meters - Quincy’s Levi Kukes took 3rd and Adiel Sandoval took 5th.
Shot Put - Quincy’s Reid Thomsen took 2nd.
Discus - Reid Thomsen took 1st, Aidan Wallace placed 4th and Liam Wallace placed 5th, all from Quincy.
Javelin - Quincy’s Aidan Heikes placed 1st, and Wilson Creek’s Jordan Meyer and Zane McMillan took 2nd and 4th respectively.
High Jump - Quincy’s Ethan Gregg tied for 2nd with Jax Haeberle of Omak.
Long Jump - Quincy’s Ethan Gregg placed 1st.
Triple Jump Varsity - Aidan Heikes of Quincy took 1st and Quincy’s Ethan Gregg took 2nd.
For the girls:
100 Meters - Quincy’s Jasmine Vasquez placed 3rd.
200 Meters - Anel Giseth Alvarado of Quincy took 4th.
400 Meters - Soap Lake’s Sage Hart placed 1st and Emmerson Miller and Marisol Uribe both of Quincy placed 4th and 5th respectively.
1600 Meters - Quincy’s Crystal Espinoza took 3rd.
100m Hurdles - Hannah Smith of Wilson Creek took 4th place.
4x100 meter relay - Quincy’s team made up of Dulce Bautista, Nallely Uribe, Adelina Perez and Hazel Smedley took 4th.
4x200 meter relay - Quincy’s team made up of Marisol Uribe, Anel Giseth Alvarado, Shea Heikes and Joceline Schaapman placed 2nd.
Shot Put - Soap Lake’s Cierra Koski placed 4th.
Discus - Quincy’s Kallie Kooistra took 3rd.
Javelin - Quincy’s Kallie Kooistra placed 4th.
Triple Jump - Quincy’s Joceline Schaapman and Shea Heikes took 3rd and 4th respectively.
