2022 Basin Easter events guide

COLUMBIA BASIN — With Easter weekend now upon us, there is a lot to do in the Columbia Basin, between the churches holding special worship services and the community Easter egg hunts. The noncomprehensive list of events below are just a portion of what the Columbia Basin will be doing in honor of the holiday. Please note that events are subject to change at the discretion of the event organizers.

EASTER EGG HUNTS

The Moses Lake Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department is having its First Annual Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt for Moses Lake high schoolers on Friday, April 15, at 8:45 p.m. at McCosh Park. There will be candy filled eggs along with three prize eggs per age division (ninth, tenth, eleventh, twelfth). Prizes include gift cards, movie themed gift packages, Apple air ear buds, Under Armor duffel bags, and more. Make sure to bring a flashlight and school ID. For more information, call 509-764-3805.

The City of Ephrata Parks and Recreation Department is holding its annual flashlight egg hunt in Lions Park on Friday, April 15 beginning at 8:30 p.m. There will be candy filled eggs and three special prizes for children in grades 5-12. For more information, call 509-754-4426.

The Moses Lake Lions Club will hold its 2022 Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 16, in McCosh Park starting at noon. The Easter Bunny will also be on hand for photos.

The Sand Scorpions will hold their annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 16, at noon in the east end of Sand Dunes Beach for children ages 13 and younger. According to a posting on their Facebook page, the Sand Scorpions are planning on hiding around 20,000 eggs on 20 acres of dunes. The Easter Bunny is also set to make an appearance. The hunt will be followed by $5-per-hand poker event which is open to the public. For more information, contact the Sand Scorpions at 509-431-4463.

The City of George will host its annual Easter egg hunt at the George Community Hall, 403 W. Montmorency Boulevard, on Saturday, April 16, beginning at 9 a.m. for those 12 and younger. Bring a bag or a basket. For more information, call the George Community Hall at 509-785-3401.

The city of Mattawa will host its annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 16, in Mattawa Park beginning at 10 a.m. For more information, call 509-932-4037.

CHURCH SERVICES

Worship Services — Ephrata

The Community Church of Ephrata at 54 K Street SE will hold a Good Friday service on April 15 beginning at 7 p.m. followed on Sunday, April 17, with an Easter service at 10 a.m. For more information call 509-754-6130.

Grace Point Church at 327 C Street NW will hold a Good Friday service on April 15 at 7 p.m. followed on Sunday, April 17, by a worship service at 10 a.m. For more information, call 509-754-3351.

St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church at 323 D Street SW will hold a bilingual Stations of the Cross service on Good Friday, April 15, at 3 p.m. followed by an Adoration of the Cross in English at 5 p.m. and in Spanish at 7 p.m. An Easter Vigil is for Saturday, April 16, beginning at 8 p.m., followed by Sunday services on April 17 at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. in English and noon in Spanish. Worship Services — Mattawa

Our Lady of the Desert Catholic Church at 302 E. 8th Street I will host a Good Friday service on April 15 beginning at 6 p.m., with Easter Sunday services scheduled for April 17 at 9 a.m. in English and noon and 5 p.m. in Spanish. For more information, call 509-932-5424.

Church Services - Moses Lake

Moses Lake Christian Church at 200 Yonezawa Boulevard will host a Good Friday worship service on April 15 beginning at 7 p.m. On Saturday, April 16, the church will host an Easter egg hunt with crafts and a continental breakfast beginning at 10:30 a.m. On Easter Sunday, April 17, the church will hold worship services at 9 and 11 a.m.

The Alliance Church at 1100 N. Grape Drive in Moses Lake will hold a Good Friday service on April 15 beginning at 7 p.m., and will hold Resurrection Sunday services on April 17 at 8:30 a.m. and again at 10 a.m., with the second service live-streamed at the church’s website live the all.online.church. Moses Lake Presbyterian Church at 1142 W. Ivy Avenue will hold a Good Friday service on April 15 starting at 7:30 p.m. followed by Easter Sunday services on April 17 at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. For more information call 509-765-8819.

Generations Church at 431 E. Brown Avenue in Moses Lake will host a Good Friday service on April 15 beginning at 6:30 p.m. followed by an Easter Sunday service at 10 a.m. For more information, call 509-765-8697.

Moses Lake Baptist Church at 4334 Joann Drive will host an Easter egg hunt starting at 11 a.m. in Vista Park, 1111 N. Evelyn Drive, on Saturday, April 16, complete with a bounce house, snacks, and a family photo opportunity. Moses Lake United Methodist Church at 746 S. Ironwood Drive will host a Good Friday service and meditation on the cross on April 15 at 10 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. On Sunday, April 17, the church is planning to host a sunrise service at 6 a.m. followed by a brunch and fellowship beginning at 7 a.m. and a regular worship service at 10 a.m. For more information, call 509-765-5332.

Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church at 200 N. Dale Road will host a Good Friday service on April 15 in English at 5:30 p.m. and Spanish at 7:30 p.m., followed by a bilingual Easter Vigil on Saturday, April 16, beginning at 8:30 p.m. and services on Sunday, April 17, at 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. in English and 11:30 a.m. in Spanish. Worship Services — Othello Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 616 E. Juniper will mark the Stations of the Cross on Friday, April 15, beginning at 10 a.m., followed by Good Friday services at 5 p.m. in English and 7 p.m. in Spanish. An Easter Vigil is scheduled to start on Saturday, April 16, at 8 p.m., followed by Easter Sunday services on April 17 at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. in English and noon in Spanish.
