NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION GRANT COUNTY, WASHINGTON TUESDAY, April 26, 2022 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 in Grant County, State of Washington, there will be held a Special Election for the voters of Wahluke School District No. 73 for the purpose of replacing an expiring educational programs and operation levy. Wahluke School District No. 73 Proposition No. 1 Replacement of Expiring Educational Programs and Operation Levy The Board of Directors of Wahluke School District No. 73 adopted Resolution No. 1-2022, concerning a proposition to finance educational programs and operations expenses. This proposition would authorize the District to levy the following excess taxes, replacing an expiring levy, on all taxable property within the District, for educational programs and operations expenses not funded by the State Estimated Levy Rate/$1,000 Maximum Collection Year Assessed Value Levy Amount 2023 $2.50 $2,232,443 2024 $2.50 $2,351,209 2025 $2.50 $2,476,293 2026 $2.50 $2,608,032 all as provided in Resolution No. 1-2022 and subject to legal limits on levy rates and amounts at the time of levy. Should this proposition be approved? LEVY. . . YES [ ] LEVY . . . NO [ ] The registration deadline for online and mail-in registrations and transfers is April 18, 2022. Any qualified elector who is not registered to vote in the State of Washington, you may register or obtain registration forms online at voter.votewa.gov. If you want to register in person and receive a ballot or you need to obtain a replacement ballot, you can do this at the Grant County Elections Office, 35 C St NW, Room 203, at the County Courthouse. We have an Accessible Voting Unit that can be used to help you with your voting needs, you will need to CALL (509) 754-2022 Ext. 2704 to make an appointment to use the Accessible Voting Unit. You can make an appointment to use this machine starting April 11, 2022 from 9:00 AM - 4PM, or on Election Day from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Drive-up ballot drop box locations for the April 26, 2022 Election: Grant County Courthouse, Public Parking, Lot #A, Ephrata Mattawa Hospital, 210 Government Road, Mattawa. The ballot drop boxes will be opened for drop off on Friday, April 8, 2022 and locked on Election night April 26, 2022 at 8:00 PM. Voters needing additional information or assistance with voter registration forms or voting, may call the Election Department at (509) 754-2011, Ext 2704. For additional information on the election or regarding voter registration: www.grantcountywa.gov, www.voter.votewa.gov, or the Columbia Basin Harold newspaper. Ballots do not require postage to return them, but they must be postmarked by the day of election. Check with your local Post Office for deadlines to have your ballot postmarked properly. Processing the ballots returned to our office for the Special Election will begin April 12 th , 2022. Important dates for the Special Election are as follows: April 12, 2020 - May 6, 2022, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Extended Hours, if necessary); for processing of mail ballots, checking signatures, opening and processing ballots May 6, 2022 10:00 AM to canvass the votes cast and certify the election.
