MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake High School boys and girls tennis teams took on Eastmont High School on Friday, both Moses Lake teams won with team scores of 5-2.

“We have seen really high-quality tennis being played,” said Moses Lake High School head tennis coach Richard Gregoire.

On the boys’ side, the Chiefs performed well with several solid wins.

• Marwan Warnick won both sets 6-0 and 6-1.

• Roman Jenks won both sets 6-1 and 6-4.

• Caleb Dickinson won both sets 6-3 and 6-1.

• Emitt Madsen lost the first and third sets 3-6 and 10-7 but won the second set 6-4.

• Doubles Adam Wiseman and Josh Acevedo won 6-4 and 6-2.

• Doubles Daniel Bowen and Colin Lehman lost 6-1 in both sets.

• Doubles Colin Stanberry and Derek O’Brien won 6-3 in both sets.

The Lady Chiefs did well in the doubles but struggled with losses, some close, in one-on-one matches.

• Doubles Amelie Gregoire and Malika Warnick won both sets 6-0. The pair work well together and are undefeated so far this season.

• Doubles Cece Trinnaman and Sydney Thomas won both sets 6-2 and 6-4.

• Doubles Abby O’Neil and Amelia Bowen lost 6-0 in both sets.• Sara Carpenter lost 7-6 and 6-3.

• Kylie Thomas lost 6-1 and 6-2.

• Kalei Bruce lost 6-0 in both sets.

• Amanda Salas lost 6-0 and 6-4.

The girls team is 2-5 overall while the boys are 3-4.

Gregoire said he encourages the community to come out and support the high school tennis team.

“I just really think a lot of our kids are excited to have an opportunity to play a full season and then, you know, have the postseason opportunity and get back to a little bit more of a normal (season) because last year, we had kind of an abbreviated season. We didn’t get to do our district tournament stuff,” said Gregoire.

MLHS tennis next takes on Sunnyside High School on April 12 at Sunnyside.
