Ephrata fastpitch falls to East Valley
EPHRATA â The Ephrata girls fastpitch softball team took two tough losses Tuesday in a doubleheader against East Valley.
The March 29 matchup occurred at Ephrata High School. East Valley took the game 7-4.
The first game came out with the Lady Tigers up 2-1 over East Valley at the end of the first inning. The two teams were scoreless in the second inning but East Valley was able to get a jump in the third with two runs.
Ephrata wasn't able to score again until the fifth inning, which was also the next time East Valley did as well. Both managed two runs each, keeping East Valley ahead by one run.
East Valley made one more run in each the sixth and seventh inning while holding the Lady Tigers back.
Ephrata head coach Heather Woods wrote on the Ephrata Tigers website that in the first game, the Tigers were led by four players; senior Alexis Bicondova went 3-4 with a double and two runs-batted-in, junior Jackie Turner went 2-4 with a pair of runs, freshman Kaydence âKKâ Hector had double and two runs and sophomore Peyton Trautman had a double and two RBIs.
In the second game the Lady Tigers managed to hold a tie, 1-1, in the first inning. Then Ephrata held East Valley back in the second inning and clinched three runs to lead 4-1 at the end of the third inning. East Valley responded back by bringing in eight runs between innings three and four and shutting out Ephrata.
The Lady Tigers were not giving up and managed two runs in the fifth and four runs in the sixth. However East Valley rallied and gained five more runs between the fifth and seventh innings.
East valley took the game 14-10.
For the second game Woods wrote that Bicondova went 2-4 with a triple, a pair RBIs and two runs; Trautman went 2-4 with a double and two RBIs; sophomore Maddox Leseman went 2-4; senior Kaylee Stump went 2-4; and junior Alexis Park had a double.
The team is now 4-3 overall and has a conference record of 0-2. The Lady Tigers will take on Naches Valley High School on April 1 in a doubleheader at Ephrata.
