OTHELLO — Three sections of road in Adams County will be the focus of construction projects this summer, according to county officials.

Work will start on 3.98 miles of Booker Road, east of Othello, about May 25. Adams County Engineer Scott Yeager wrote that construction is projected to be completed about July 7.

The section from the Foley Road intersection, north of Bruce, to Providence Road at the Grant County line will be repaired and guardrails will be replaced. The road will be finished with a hot mix asphalt overlay.

Hot mix asphalt provides a smoother surface when compared to chip seal, which is a mix of rock and tar, according to the Federal Highway Administration.

About 2.65 miles of Cunningham Road south of Odessa will be reconstructed. The project is expected to take from June 26 to Sept. 22.

The road will be excavated and rebuilt with a new subsurface and drainage, then surfaced with chip seal. Guardrails will be replaced as well.

McKinney Road south of Othello is scheduled for reconstruction from Aug. 30 to Nov. 11. The 2.01 miles from Bench to Hatton roads will be excavated and widened, with new subsurface and drainage. Guardrails will be added where needed. The road will be finished with hot mix asphalt.
