Michael J. Mabe

| September 24, 2021 1:00 AM

Michael J. Mabe, 72, passed away on Aug. 23, 2021, from complications of COVID-19.

Michael (Mike) was born in Snohomish, Washington, to Beverly and Lawrence Mabe. He met the love of his life, Linda when she started her new job in Seattle, Washington, in 1978. They married on Valentine’s Day 1981.

In 1993, they both quit their jobs to start a dump truck company. They sold the trucking company in 2008 because Mike thought he wanted to retire, but that didn’t last long.

In 2009 he reconnected with his granddaughter, Angela Mabe, whom he loved with all his heart. He was over the moon when she asked if she could live with him and Linda in Moses Lake. He also realized how much he missed driving a truck so he started driving a snow plow for the Washington State Department of Transportation. Finally in 2015 he was ready to retire and enjoy life.

He became his mother-in-law’s Uber driver, taking her whenever and wherever she wanted to go. He loved doing this for her as he loved taking care of his family and friends. If anyone needed anything, Mike was the one to call.

He is survived by his loving wife Linda; granddaughter Angela Mabe (Cody Jones); brothers Larry and Jack Mabe; mother-in-law Maria Gray; siblings Mary Falconer, Susan Juhnke and Teresia and Slade Caldwell and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mike had a special bond with his cousin Janet, thinking of her more like a sister than a cousin.

He is preceded in death by his parents Beverly and Lawrence Mabe, brothers Rodney (Rod) and Richard (Rick), father-in-law Vern Gray, brother-in-law Ken Falconer and cousin Marian Dreier.

Services will be announced at a later time.
