Weekend prep roundup: Tigers blank Jacks in Battle of the Basin

Ephrata 33, Quincy 0

The Ephrata Tigers dominated the annual Battle of the Basin with a shutout victory over Quincy. Joshua Green finished with 128 yards rushing and one score for the Tigers, while Beau DeChenne rushed for 50 yards and two scores. Cole Hertz threw for 50 yards passing and rushed in for one touchdown.

The Tigers defense held the Jacks to just eight yards of total offense in the win. Green finished with three interceptions with a combined eight turnovers between the two teams, six for Quincy and two for Ephrata.

Royal 51, Othello 3

A 21-point third quarter sealed a home win for the Royal Knights Friday against Othello. Derek Bergeson passed for 199 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions while rushing for 23 yards and three touchdowns. Avery Ellis finished with 76 yards rushing on eight attempts with one score. Luke Bergeson led the receivers with 143 yards receiving on five catches with two touchdowns.

Terrill Freeman led the Othello Huskies on the ground with 39 yards, while JD Deleon finished with 81 yards passing.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 58, Selkirk 22

A rushing attack that finished with 273 yards led the ACH Warriors to victory. Carter Pitts led five ACH players who finished with a rushing touchdown and at least 40 yards rushing, finishing with 67 yards on eight attempts. Cody Allsbrook, Dane Isaak and Grady Murray all topped 50 yards on just one rushing attempt.

Tristen Wood and Reece Isaak led the ACH defense with 2.5 tackles for a loss each while Dane Isaak picked up an interception.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna/Kahlotus 25, Davenport 24

Chase Galbreath finished with 163 yards passing and two touchdown passes. Hayden Melcher finished with 41 yards rushing and one touchdown, while Hunter Dinkins led all receivers with three catches for 80 yards and one touchdown grab.

Kaydence Martinez netted a hat trick with three goals. Senior Natalie Bunch added a pair of goals.

Kadence Hector scored twice, with Aliya Avila scoring once to push Ephrata to 2-0. Hector and Jaime Farias both added assists.

The Ephrata Tigers came back to take the fourth set and match after dropping the third set to West Valley 27-25 Thursday night. Hayden Mills led with 13 kills to go with four service aces and a pair of blocks. Halee Moore led the team with 19 digs, while Lindsay Addink finished with 29 assists.
