A wildfire – which threatened homes and caused Level 3 evacuations northeast of Quincy late Tuesday – was under control Wednesday.

The Monument Hill Fire 2021, near Adams Road North and Road 13 Northwest, burned about 150 acres of sage and grass, according to a Grant County Sheriff’s Office social media post. The cause was under investigation and firefighters could remain on the scene through Thursday.

A Level 3 evacuation notice, meaning leave now, was given at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, but was lowered to Level 1 at 8 a.m., Wednesday, meaning residents could return home, but be ready to leave again if necessary. No structures were reported damaged.

Agencies responding included Grant County fire districts 3, 5, and 13, Ephrata Fire Department, Moses Lake Fire Department, U.S. Bureau of Land Management, Royal Slope Fire Rescue-EMS, Quincy Police Department and the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
