One dead, two injured in Whitman County
One person died and two were injured, including one from Moses Lake who may have been at fault, in a collision Thursday afternoon on U.S. Route 195, south of Uniontown in Whitman County, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Blaise O. Cordero, 61, of Moses Lake, was driving north on U.S. Route 195 just before 2:30 p.m. in a 2021 Kenworth truck with a trailer. Behind him was Justin D. Orr, 27, of Spokane Valley, driving a white 2018 Dodge Ram.
Salvadore Lopez, 49, of Clarkston, was driving a white 2006 Honda Ridgeline south on the road. Behind him was John D. Anthony, 58, of Clarkston, driving a gray 2018 Ford F350 with a trailer.
The Kenworth drifted into the southbound lane and sideswiped the Honda. The Honda continued south and entered the northbound lane, striking the Dodge in the northbound lane. The Kenworth continued in the southbound lane and struck the Ford.
Anthony died at the scene. He was wearing his seat belt.
Cordero was injured, but not transported. He was wearing his seat belt. He may face charges, but the collision was still under investigation Thursday.
Lopez was injured, but the hospital he was taken to was not provided. He wore a seat belt.
Orr was not injured and wore a seat belt.
The Honda and Ford were totaled, but the Kenworth and Dodge had reportable damages.
