The East Columbia Basin Irrigation District has three director positions, divisions 1, 2, and 4, with an open filing period, according to a release from the district.

Directors must reside in the county or counties where the district is. A voter must own land in the district and vote in the director division he or she lives in or is nearest to.

To file for director, a declaration of candidacy petition, signed by at least 10 qualified voters in the division, must be filed in the district’s office by 5 p.m. Monday. The election is Dec. 14.

Petitions may be obtained by calling the district’s office in Othello at 509-488-9671. The office is at 55 N. Eighth Ave.

Incumbent Division 1 Director Don Osborne’s division includes the area north of Wheeler Road in Grant County. The term is for two years beginning in January 2022, finishing the remainder of Osborne’s term.

Incumbent Division 2 Director Reid Baker’s division includes an area bounded on the east and south by the Grant/Adams County line, and on the west by the district’s boundary. The term is for three years beginning in January 2022.

Incumbent Division 4 Director Duaine Anderson’s division is in Adams County, and bounded on the north by the Grant/Adams County line, on the south by the Franklin/Adams County line and on the west by the district’s boundary. The east boundary follows Booker Road from the Adams/Grant County line to Cunningham Road, then Cunningham Road to the east three miles to the line separating Ranges 30 and 31 East, which it follows to the Franklin/Adams County line. The term is for three years beginning January 2022.
