| October 28, 2021 1:00 AM

Maria Lupe Moreno, 77, went home to be with the Lord and savior on Oct. 5, 2021.

Maria was born to Juanita and Santos Rivera in 1944 along with twin sister Lupe M. Vasquez. Maria married Jose Moreno in 1963 in Washington state. Maria had four children: Jesse (Sandy) Moreno, with children Jackie, Lisa and Jacob Moreno; Elsa (Joaquin) Arias with children Bernice, Luis, Angel, Joaquin, Jose, Anthony and Eva Arias and Xavier, Patrick, Eli Moncada; Ruby Watley (Jose Lira) with children Gabriel, Immanuel and Veronica Watley; and Peter Joe Moreno ll (Rebecca Estraca) with children Celia, Saphire and Peter Joe Moreno Jr.

Maria was a homemaker and devoted Catholic; her favorite place to be was in church. Along with twin sister Lupe Vasquez, Maria also had sisters Leonor Ruiz and Josefa Rodriguez, two brothers Eugene Rivera and Guillermo Rivera and three brothers-in-law Andy Vasquez, Leo Ruiz and Martin Rodriguez. It truly takes a village to raise a child. With the help of Maria’s brothers and sisters it was a very close-knit family raising all the nieces and nephews together including Juan, Rudy, Orlando (Beau), Victor (Gina), Freddy and Gilbert (Becky) Ruiz; Maria’s numerous grandchildren Xavier, Patrick, Eli Moncada. Jackie, Lisa, Jacob, Moreno. Gabriel, Immanuel, Veronica Watley. Bernice, Luis, Angel, Joaquin, Jose and Anthony and Eva Arias Moreno and Celia, Saphire and Peter Joe Moreno Jr.; and great-grandchildren Noelia Moncada, Gabriel, Jacob, Gavin, Alexa and Jazlyn Watley, Aydenne, Ella, Iliza and Jaxxon Watley, Raymahl Thornton, Alonzo Moncada, Emiliano Arias Rivera, Alessandra Arias Rivera, Peter Joe Moreno Jr. and many more. The family would like to give a special mention to Nieves C. Rangel. Thank you for the love and support you showed Maria, rest in peace. Maria was preceded in death by parents Juanita and Santos Rivera; sisters Lupe Vasquez, Josefa Rodriguez and Leonor Ruiz and brother Eugene Rivera.
