MOSES LAKE — The Downtown Moses Lake Association (DMLA) announced Tuesday its annual Downtown Trick or Treat moved from a drive-thru event to in-person.

The DMLA’s board of directors determined on Oct. 15 it would be safe to switch back to an in-person event. Lexi Smith, executive director of the DMLA, said organizers have been monitoring releases from Grant County Health District and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for guidance. Other things they took into consideration were COVID-19 cases in Grant County have dropped since the cancellation of Sip & Stroll in September and the event is outdoors and is easier for people to social distance.

Downtown Trick or Treat will be 3-5 p.m. Oct. 30 from Alder to Cedar streets on Third Avenue. Smith said about 35 businesses have signed up for the event. She also mentioned any other businesses wanting to participate need to RSVP by the day before the event so the DMLA can assign the business a spot to set up a booth. Businesses can RSVP at www.dlmaevents.com.

A DMLA release stated there will be a costume contest on social media. People wanting to participate must post their costumes on Instagram or Facebook and tag the DMLA by 8 p.m. on Oct. 30. Gift cards to downtown businesses will be awarded to three winners selected by a panel of judges. The winners will be announced on Halloween.
